Graceling

I finished reading Graceling on Sunday morning. I woke up and was determined to finish it. I find myself still thinking of the characters and how their future will turn out! I was a little disappointed that Kristin Cashore's second book Fire is not a sequel to Graceling. The time period in Fire is 15-20 years before Graceling. There is a rumor that her third book, Bitterblue will mention my favorites from Graceling. I hope so because I loved this book.

Book summary from this link-

In the seven kingdoms, there are some children who are born different. They are marked with eyes of two different colors, and they are called Gracelings. Gracelings have abilities beyond the natural, and they are feared and shunned by most people. There are many different Graces—some are benign, like the Grace to swim long distances, or to juggle. And some are deadly.

Katsa has been able to kill a man with her bare hands since she was eight--she's a Graceling, one of the rare people in her land born with an extreme skill. As niece of the king, she should be able to live a life of privilege, but Graced as she is with killing, she is forced to work as the king's thug.
When she first meets Prince Po, Graced with combat skills, Katsa has no hint of how her life is about to change. She never expects to become Po's friend. She never expects to learn a new truth about her own Grace--or about a terrible secret that lies hidden far away . . . a secret that could destroy all seven kingdoms with words alone.

With elegant, evocative prose and a cast of unforgettable characters, debut author Kristin Cashore creates a mesmerizing world, a death-defying adventure, and a heart-racing romance that will consume you, hold you captive, and leave you wanting more.

5 out of 5.

Next book just arrived in the mail as I was posting! Matt had just checked the mail. Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella.

Remember Me?

I read a lot of books. I've read twenty something books since April 2009. Wow. That is a lot! It all started with the Twilight Saga and I flew through that then the House of Night series. I'm also into Chick Lit books that always have a happy ending. Like the one above. Just finished "Remember Me?" today.

Love Sophie Kinsella books! This was my third book by her. So, I thought I should start doing some book reviews. Here we go!

Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella

It's 2004 and Lexi Smart aka Snaggletooth is out clubbing with her friends. Her boyfriend, Loser Dave stood her up. Fast forward to 2007 and Lexi wakes up in a hospital bed with amnesia and is told that 3 years have passed. She wakes up to a super fit and tanned body, new teeth, fuller lips and a gorgeous husband. How did she get so lucky?!

You gotta read it to find out ! Since I love a great Chick book, I give this a 5 out of a 5.

Quotes from the novel...

"I can't get over this. Jennifer and Brad are divorced. The world is a different place."

"What are you, woman or walrus?"

Next book, Graceling by Kristin Cashore.
