Stay Home Slump

I have this overwhelming feeling that I'm doing everything wrong today.

Let me first say I love being a stay home mom. I play with my kids every day. We always have food on the table. We have a happy home. But some days I wake up and just want to escape!

Last night I stayed up too late to finish a book. Guess I was selfish to do that. Then today has been off. Zander is super fussy. I think he's cutting his second tooth. I went running to see if that would help my mood. Don't think it did because here I am now typing this blog. My husband watched the kids while I went to run and then I took a quick shower. But I'm always rushed. A day like today makes me wonder what it would feel like to send both kids to daycare, just for a day...Maybe I would finally tackle the long to-do list that is always running through my head.

We have too many clothes. All 4 of us. I know the problem could easily be solved if I would just sort through them and put some in trash or give away. But I'm sure it would take hours so I don't. I'd rather get the kids out of the house to do something fun.

It's so hard to get anything done around the house. My little boy loves to be held. He's only 6 months and I love that he wants to be snuggled all the time. But it sure makes for a messy house. Guess I could be cleaning right now as he naps but I'm in a slump. Praying I snap out of this soon!

Adele

My sister came across this picture on the internet. She sent it to me on Facebook yesterday saying...this girl looks like you. Turns out she is a famous singer named Adele from the UK. Guess I've been living under a rock. Her music is awesome!

Well, I guess I do sort of look like her. I snapped a pic of me before heading out the door this morning. Wish I had on some awesome false lashes!

Me.

Dr Pepper ramblings

I never was a big "coke" drinker. Water is still my beverage of choice. But my husband loves all kinds of "coke". And he wants the real sweet stuff like Big Red, Cream Soda, Dr. Pepper and Barq's Root Beer. (He says A&W is nasty). So, I started drinking whatever he came home with. I'd treat a Dr. Pepper like dessert. I'd sit down with a cup of ice and my Dr. Pepper. Ready to set my throat on fire! While pregnant Dr Pepper tasted even better. It was great while it lasted. Then I decided I needed to lose the baby weight and drinking my calories was not an option.

Then Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper came into my life.

I was a huge sceptic of Diet drinks. They tasted so gross to me. But my mom was like "Diet Dr. Pepper is Goo-ooood!" So, I trained myself to like it. But now I crave them and find myself drinking 2 Diet Cherry Dp's a day. When I used to only drink one can of the real stuff. The word "diet" makes me feel like I can drink to my heart's desire. I guess one or two cans of DDP never hurt anyone! Right?

Where have I been?

Snuggling this precious face right here!
And here's some recent pictures of Zander. He's 11 days old.

Since coming home from the hospital my days (and nights) are spent breastfeeding every 2 hours, changing diapers, helping Violet to adjust to having a sibling and recovering from labor.

Today I woke up and felt better. I had some extra energy so I decorated our mantle for Christmas. I had been so focused on counting down the days until my due date that Christmas has been an after thought. I need to get busy wrapping gifts and such!

It's challenging to keep up with a blog with a newborn in the house. But I do miss attempting to look fabulous, taking pictures and reading all of your lovely blogs. Once the Holidays are over I think I will start doing some weight loss blogs. I should be able to start working out by then and I can't wait! I gained 43 pounds this pregnancy. I figured I would gain a lot since I gained 55 with my first baby. So far, I've already lost 22 pounds since having Zander last week. Who wants to be weight loss buddies?!

Girls day at the Fair

On Friday, My mom, sister Jaley, Violet and I went to the fair! We had a lot of fun. I think I might be a little crazy to spend 7 hours walking around at the fair at 8 months pregnant. I'm now hobbling around with a blister on my toe. But the Fried Snickers bar made it all worth while! Ok, I'm kidding. I'm trying to do as much fun stuff with my 3 year old as I can before this little one arrives!

Ok, Picture Time!
Posing with Big Tex.

We all tried way too many fried treats! At least we always shared. This is a fried Snickers.

Sister Jaley in front of the Ferris Wheel.

Violet went fishing!

Lots of cute animals to see and pet.

Fresh Ice Cold Lemonade is the best!

Crazy ride that we did NOT do.

Violet found this lion to pose with, little cutie.

On the Merry Go Round with Gigi.

So tired! We had to give away the rest of her game tickets on our way out. She was not waking up for anything.

That was fun but it will be a few years before we go back. Walking and eating in the heat is hard work!

One Year Later

(hubby and I a few months ago)

Around this time last year. We were going through a rough patch. You can read the blog I wrote about it here. I was really down and not feeling like my self. Life is so different now!

I'm so thankful for...

1. My husband. He always puts his family first. Because of him I can stay home and raise my babies like I always wanted to.

2. That I'm pregnant with our second baby.

3. For our home. Having your own home really is a blessing!

Really, I'm just trying to sit back and appreciate the simple things in life.

Maybe it's the hormones. But I felt like I should reflect on how my life has changed since this time last year. I was feeling sorry for myself, gaining weight and had lost some of my spark. I'm sure some of you reading this are going through hard times as well. The recession has been hard on so many families. I hope there are still little things you can find happiness in. Things will work out!

Friday Update

I hit the third trimester this week, yippee! I'm feeling lazier than usual. I went to visit my parent's house last Sunday and forgot my camera. Feeling lost without it and it makes blogging a challenge.

Lookie what I made last night! A fall wreath. I had never made a wreath before. One of my favorite home decor bloggers, Thrifty Decor Chick inspired me. I'm loving the warm fall colors.

(pic taken with my phone)
Today is my mother in law's birthday. I offered to make her whatever she wanted. So, I'm cooking Shrimp Scampi. I'm also making a "Better than Sex" cake. I've made it before and it's delicious. But I will not be telling her that's what it's called! Gotta come up with something else.

What are y'all up to?!

Some days are meant to be natural

This is how I went to my early Dr. visit today. Just a swipe of concealer under my eyes, blush and lip gloss. And it felt good to be lazy! See ladies? My eyelashes are invisible without mascara. Oh well. I'm glad that mascara was invented. Our baby boy is getting so big! It was a good visit. He's almost 2 pounds and I'm not ready for him to come out any time soon.

I tried to include my belly in the photo. You can kinda see it. My favorite maternity shirts are comfy ones like this that are fitted under the chest. So, the ribbon is giving me some sort of waist line.

Were taking a roadtrip tomorrow. Just me, hubby and our daughter. It will be nice to get away and chill out. I was told to drink lots of water and keep my legs moving in the car to stay well. Can't wait... Shopping, eating good food, site seeing and hopefully a prenatal massage are in store for me!

My Weekend

This past weekend my sister Justine graduated from college. So, we were busy all weekend! She was a Spanish major so we had a Fiesta themed dinner & party afterwards.

Me and my little girl. She was tired and ready to leave the school at this point.
She's ready for the party!
Me, Justine & Jaley. Jordan had to work. For some reason I thought I needed to rest my hand on my belly to show I was pregnant. Like people can't tell??
Jus with our happy parents!

Yay Jussy! Were proud of you.
-Jill
ps. I got my brows threaded on Friday. I'm in a happy place with them right now.

TAG

Rules:

1. Link to the person who tagged you.

2. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about you.

3. Tag 7 random people at the end, and include links to their blogs.

4. Let each person know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs.

Thanks Cara for tagging me! That's so funny that you wanted to be Crystal. My sister Jordan wanted to be called Tiffany, haha.

1 - I've suddenly become OCD about objects in my house. Since I do most of the cleaning. Matt will put things in the wrong spot. (there really is no wrong spot) Drives me crazy!

2 - My sense of touch is out of whack in relation to heat. My sister Jaley always jokes that I don't need to use oven mitts. It takes a few seconds for me to realize something is burning me! I have a grease burn on my arm right now as proof, ouch.

3 - I can't stand plain, white walls. Which is what our walls look like since were in an apartment.

4 - I've become SuzyHomemaker. I take care of my baby and her friend during the day. While they are napping I meal plan and prep for dinner.

5 - I have a bad habit of turning every light on in the house and forgetting about them.

6 - I sing a song to Violet that goes, "Violet is nice, Violet is sweet, Violet is Pretty, Violet is nice, Violet is sweet, Violet is pretty, Violet is nice, Violet is sweet, Violet is pretty, That's my Violet Girl." Great lyrics, huh? Now it's stuck in my head.

7 - I randomly spit my food out. Gross, I know. You'd think I would grow out of that. (Right, mom?) But sometimes it just taste WRONG. It's usually something with meat in it. If the texture is wrong, I start gagging. But I'm very discreet about it. I have to be careful around my dad. He always eats the leftovers off our plates. (were weird).

I tag...

MMM, LINDT CHOCOLATE

I just wrote a post describing this chocolate and it disappeared. But all you need to know is this stuff is too GOOD! I love it! I used to love the kind in the yellow bag which was white chocolate. But now they make white chocolate with flecks of cocoa with the same buttery cream filling. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
The 12-truffle bags were on sale at Walmart for 2.50 and I bought 4 bags! I told myself I would put some in gifts and stockings. Matt and I are on the second bag!

Good Times

This week was awesome because...1. I got to see this movie right here with Jordan! Yep, first movie I have seen since I was 8 months pregnant! Why do you ask?! Because my daughter was a high -needs (says Dr. Sears.com), constant nursing baby. But that's okay, LOVES her. The movie was good, I'd see it again. To celebrate seeing a movie, I had popcorn AND chocolate. Shhhh!
2. I gotsa a NEW car! I'm very grateful for this, I've needed a car for a while. It's a Nissan Sentra SER.

3. My Grandma, Uncle Gregg, and Aunt Pam are in town! It's always good to see them. Tonight I'm heading back to Mansfield to Parent's House to have a feast with them.
Life is Good People!

Really Bored

I'm SOOO bored! I've been in the apt. basically for the past 22 hours!!! Except for the 25 minutes I went to the gym. I don't know what to do with myself. I never thought I would say that once I had a kid. But I'm bored. I accidentally left my phone at my parent's house, so no communicating with people today. Except for Vk and Daddy-O. But he is helping a friend install a tv, so who knows how long that will take. My house is clean, I read part of my book, I worked out, I tried to take VK to the pool only to find out it's closed for maintenance. I was so annoyed and I told the Apt. Guy " I just saw kids swimming, then I get down here and it's closed! That is so annoying, I just got her ready!" Actually I told him twice how annoying it was. I was really mad, I think I've had one too many boring days this week and I've had it being carless! Ok, I'm gonna go try to chill, eat dinner, and maybe Daddy-O will be here soon.

Very bored,
Jill
