May your stuffing be tasty.

May your turkey be plump, May your potatoes and gravy Have never a lump.

May your yams be delicious And your pies take the prize, And may your Thanksgiving dinner

It's Official!

Violet is done nursing!

I sound really excited, huh? I have my body back and more free time! I actually loved breastfeeding. That's the most loving, motherly, and natural thing you can do for your baby. (IMHO) I have been weaning her since she turned one. It took a little over 2 months. The bedtime feedings were hard to let go. That used to be the ONLY way she would go to sleep. We also would cosleep. So, if anything startled her to wake up in the middle of the night, she would nurse again. Or if her teeth hurt, she would nurse. We were attatched! On the second night that she didn't need me to sleep. I cried those, "OMgosh, she's one" tears! I had been waiting for that day to come. On her birthday, I was fine. Then the day I realized we wouldn't have that official, quiet, cuddle time, I was a little sad. But now it's been a week and I realize that Violet still wants to be held and snuggled and even though she likes to be a big girl sometimes, she still likes being a baby too!
Congrats my little baby, To 410 days of breastfeeding! We surpassed the One Year Mark! Mamma Loves YOU!

Wean Me Gently

by Cathy Cardall

I know I look so big to you,

Maybe I seem too big for the needs I have.

But no matter how big we get,

We still have needs that are important to us.

I know that our relationship is growing and changing,

But I still need you. I need your warmth and

closeness,

Especially at the end of the day

When we snuggle up in bed.

Please don't get too busy for us to nurse.

I know you think I can be patient,

Or find something to take the place of a nursing;

A book, a glass of something,

But nothing can take your place when I need you.

Sometimes just cuddling with you,

Having you near me is enough.

I guess I am growing and becoming independent,

But please be there.

This bond we have is so strong and so important to me,

Please don't break it abruptly.

Wean me gently,

Because I am your mother,

And my heart is tender.
